Bob Spencer

My twin journeys in life have been as a Musician, and as a teacher and coach.

Still very actively involved in music, my life has had this focus since a very early age, as a professional musician since 1973 while still at school, and I have been fortunate to see music from many different angles; firstly, as a fan, then as a band member (most notably Skyhooks, The Angels, and recently, Rose Tattoo), a teacher, and as a coach and mentor to over one thousand amateur musicians.

I have toured extensively here and overseas, recorded and co-written Gold and Platinum-selling albums, produced and/or engineered many albums for others, advised the AMEB (a National Music Board), and have been inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame. I am passionate about the benefits of music and have seen these benefits first hand, especially through my work as the Victorian Coach and Mentor of the Weekend Warrior (for adults) and Greater Groove Music (for kids) Music Programs.

Though we in music education have long suspected it, the benefits of involvement with music are now firmly established by Science; better lateral thinking, social relationships, problem-solving abilities, co-ordination, stress alleviation, blood flow, memory stimulation, pain management, and mood elevation.

I am about to embark on a national tour with Rose Tattoo (the European and American tours postponed until 2022 due to Covid) and am currently writing songs in preparation for the recording of my second solo album (the first, “Saints and Murders” has been well received and is available from my web site www.bobspencer.com.au).

I am driven by a desire to help people enjoy and appreciate life through their active participation in music, and hope to continue this for as long as I am able!
